False. The A/P projection of the umbilicus is L4. The dermatome is T10. Here is a way to remember. Locate your fingers on the most superior extent of your iliac crest. Now move your fingers anterior while maintaining the superior/inferior plane. There you go - umbilicus. Thus the umbilicus and the iliac crest are at the same vertebral projection. Locate your fingers on the inferior extent of the costal margin. Move your fingers forward while maintaining the superior/inferior plane. Your fingers cross the midline about one vertebral body above the umbilicus. The costal margin is at L3. Both the iliac crest and the umbilicus are at L4. YMMV.
